LALLAB FESTIVAL: AN EVENT BY FEMINIST MUSLIM SISTERS THAT YOU’RE GOING TO LOVE!
Meet the team at the Bellevilloise this Sunday 1st of June from noon for the 9th edition of the Lallab Festival, the feminist and anti-racist festival celebrating Muslim women.
Ok, let’s face it: Muslims aren’t on a roll at the moment (if they ever were!) in France. But what if we told you that Islam is neither incompatible with feminism nor racism? That goes without saying, but it’s worth remembering.
At a time when 2025 is generally moving backwards towards a worrying fascism, the glimmers of hope are not dying out. There are still plenty of people committed to values that deserve to be contagious. The theme of this year’s Lallab Festival is “Breaking free from sexist and sexual violence”, a sadly topical issue that must not be ignored in order to eradicate it.
The programme includes a thematic opening on sisterhood and stories of violence, a presentation of the issues surrounding sexist and sexual violence, a spiritual and political talk on the Koran and justice, training in listening to victims, musical and artistic performances, a forum and discussion area, a round table focusing on the voices of those most affected, and lots more to discover!
