In the Name of Love

These days, we hear more about war and sex than about love. So this May, let’s reflect on the purity of that feeling rather than the chaos around us. Let’s take a deep breath. It’s the month of long weekends. Let’s get some fresh air, far, far away from our worries.

We’re going to step back from the battles between right-wingers and lefties, racists and hippies, misandrists and macho men. And we’re going to put on those famous magical rose-tinted glasses that will transform our perspective for the duration of this read.

Imagine that, on this 1st of May, war is no longer an issue. Strictly speaking, first of all. On a global scale. Netanyahu has died of testicular cancer. Palestine is free. Trump has suffered a fatal stroke from forcing the fascist ideas in his brain to germinate. America is free. Kim has finally confessed his guilty pleasure for K-pop. North Korea is free. Not to mention all those nasty jihadists who have miraculously come to their senses and now practise moderate Islam. Lebanon, Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, Pakistan, Yemen, Bahrain, the Emirates, Saudi Arabia… are free.

No more ideological battles, then. A national perspective now. No more politics. We’re leaving the political camps behind. Méluche has retired and is looking after his grandchildren. And honestly, he’s such a funny, grumpy old grandad! Rima, so beautiful, has become a muse. Bardella has come out. He is now devoting himself to his career as a YouTuber and is currently filming a documentary in Algeria to reconnect with his distant roots. Marine has returned the money, accompanied by a half-hearted apology. Everyone has freed themselves from the darkest evil within. And honestly? It’s good for everyone.

In this utopian world so briefly described, every story ultimately speaks of freedom. Isn’t that what love is all about?
