When youths peacefully mock the French police

Give the internet the most deplorable situations, and it will turn them into something that will go down in history with a smile.

Amidst the current chaos, which has led secondary school pupils to protest over the lack of funding allocated to the National Education system, one might think one was witnessing an intifada, given the disproportionate reactions of the French riot police.

The police are playing GTA in real life by tearing off a hand, knocking out teeth or gouging out eyes. And according to the current Minister of the Interior, Laurent Nuñez, this is perfectly normal.

Despite this mind-boggling context, the school pupils are mocking the situation by exposing the police as the bunch of losers they are – not only because they’re using force on an unequal footing (placards versus LBDs, which, it’s worth noting, are classified as ‘weapons of war’) but also because the way they try to infiltrate the students’ Snapchat conversations is so out of touch with the students’ own culture that it has gone viral on social media, been ridiculed in memes and turned into trends.

Young people have a peaceful knack for turning their ‘opponent’s’ weapon (supposedly a protector) against them.

PS: To our English-speaking readers: we’ve tried to translate the joke for you, although it’s much funnier in the French version.
