Jeune Bonoise: top notch emotions digger

Let’s go on an adventure! Goodbye Paris. Virtual backpack on our backs, we land in Algeria to give thanks to this empire where the culture is as rich as its people. Salam Aleykoum. The child prodigy that we have come to visit lives in the city of Annaba. It is under the pseudonym of Jeune Bonoise that Houda humbly hides in the shadow of social networks. Through Instagram, she propagates a passion for photography that she masters skillfully, yet with little means. Portrait of a virtuoso who ignores herself.

Just scroll through her Instagram account to get a dose of travels, an emotional slap and a rap culture lesson. Yes, all that. Jeune Bonoise‘s content currently garners the attention of her 11,200 ever-growing followers. Through a hybrid vision, the photographer never selects her shots randomly. She combines them with pointed references: the fruit of a work that even makes Algerians rediscover Algeria. Between nostalgia and modernity, she plunges her audience into a period universe that she hastens to enliven through a resolutely contemporary musical current. A lyrical anachronism.

‘Nostalgic because present not up to scratch

Despite her pervasive sweetness, to say that melancholy is not her creative engine would be a lie. Houda is an emotional sponge. Houda cries to bring out the best. Houda is, in short, an artist. She herself says that she is ‘nostalgic because the present is not up to scratch‘ and describes her ‘vague à l’âme‘ in a very voluptuous way. The soundtrack of her life can be heard in the song 93 mesures by Dinos. It is late at night that her mind wanders, welcoming inspiration. The 24-year-old photographer then brings out the emotions that run through her to shoot discreetly in the street, often by day. So many faces taken on the spot that ignore her, so many landscapes reflecting the splendors of her environment and so many poetry around an art that tells the real life in Algeria.

A clever nod to her region

Jeune Bonoise is a pseudonym charged with History that she explains: ‘Annaba carried the name of Bône which comes from a deformation of the word Hippone. René Bouyac in his book Histoire de Bône linked this name to the Phoenician locutions Ubbon and ‘Ypo’ which would have formed the root of Hippone. ‘Ubbon’ means Gulf, and the Phoenician “Ypo” means beautiful. So much for the little story of why we are called the Bonois.‘ Nothing is ever left to chance. From his stage name to each legend accompanied by poignant quotes.

From photography to video

Hello Paris? Annaba here. Her destiny is just being written thanks to the magic of social networks. After successful exhibitions and local photography shows in 2021, rising Parisian rappers whose names will be withheld for reasons of confidentiality consulted her to participate in the artistic direction of their clips, seduced by her universe and her appetence for this musical genre. It’s a job that’s right up her alley, as she has a master’s degree in audiovisual. Beware of arrogant people who think that you need blockbuster gear to shine. The artist dazzles with what is now considered the ancestor of telecommunications: the iPhone 6s. Jeune Bonoise or how to turn dust into gold.
