Zimmermann: designs with a southern romanticism

The Zimmermann empire is based on a duo that unites its founders by the immutable ties of blood. Nicky and Simone have always trusted each other. But since 1991, they have bonded over a passion for fashion. Simone is in charge of brand development, Nicky is in charge of design. Nicky tells the story of how, at the age of 21 (in 1989), she graduated from East Sydney Tech University and set out to earn her first income from her designs at the Paddington Markets, specialized in art and textile sales.

Opportunities at the right time

The Zimmermanns’ destiny was shaped by beautiful and good encounters. One of Nicky’s friends, then a journalist at Vogue, fell in love with one of her creations, wore it proudly to work and caused a furore at the editorial office, which earned her a two-page article in the prestigious magazine.

1996: The turn of opportunity took off at breakneck speed. Nicky and Simone attended the first Sydney Fashion Week and launched a boutique, which opened many more doors. 

Refined nomadic inspirations

Their inspirations are sunny, inviting to the exodus, infusing freedom and refinement, after a very noticed debut, judged fun and spontaneous by the critics who praised them. They then set their sights on other paradisiacal places around the world where land and sea meet: Capri, Ibiza and Saint-Tropez. In 2017, they swapped their Australian accent for a London one and opened their first boutique in England. But before that, they had already established themselves in the United States, including New York, of course. July 2019: they become more urban. They landed in Paris with their very first shop, with which they intend to make their mark in the fashion capital.
